Fan Controller Questions Corsair 600T

I've just plugged my two case fans into the fan controller of my 600T.

I don't really see much of an effect when I increase the fan speed. The LED glows a little brighter and I hear a bit more noise but I only notice a small increase from lowest to highest setting. Is this correct ?

How do I know if it's working correctly ?

Also if the fans are plugged into the fan controller how can the MB monitor the speed of the fans ? Surely they need to be connected directly to the MB ?

Cheers

The yellow wire is the one telling your device how quick the fan is spinning. If your fan controller doesnt have a speed readout, then you need to connect that wire using a seperate plug to your motherboard - which is how my radiator fans are connected - red and black from the fan controller, yellow to the motherboard.

yes and yes..lol

very little difference between fast and slow.. so much so i only ever turn down if running slowly overnight..
not sure the maximum fan load you can put on a motherboard but yes if you want them controlled turned down further you do..

This is the set-up....

No colour cables on my controller and no digital readout.

Thanks

Yeah there isn't much of a noticeable difference. I even replaced some of the corsair fans with some others and the controller barely changes anything on them either. I usually have my controller set at max, and only turn it down for overnight downloading/scanning etc when airflow isn't really essential (not that it makes a noticeable difference anyways)

If you have the black 600T then its not the fan controller holding your fans back its the fans themselves!

The black 600T 200mm fans run at 800rpm and push little air which is a known gripe with this case version.

The white Limited Edition was uprated to 1000rpm as a result by Corsair. Although better they still don't push huge amounts of air. Its for this reason that I have upgraded my front 200mm intake to a 200mm CoolerMaster Megaflow for increased flow on my white 600T.

Yes the speed issues are the same on mine (600T White), was going to ask on here about the low and high settings.

possibly thinking about changing the stock corsair fans to better ones, just unsure which ones to get.

did the 30mm fans fit easily or did you move the hard drive bays..

you didnt try the roof ones then

Presume you mean the 30mm depth fans which the megaflow fan is? All fits fine, but yes you are right you need to move the HDD cage to make it fit.

I looked closely at also replacing the top extract fan but there appears to be insufficient height to accommodate the fan between the roof of the case and the top of the mobo which is a real shame.
