Fan filters...how much effect on airflow?

As title really, how much an effect do filters have on the airflow from case fans? Cut in half/third/quarter or whatever?

Got a couple of 80mm intakes but the inside of the case is getting too dusty so I'm thinking about putting filters on them. But concerned that would cut too much airlflow. The fans I've got are 19dB/21CFM only as it is, so can't really afford to cut that I imagine.....

I don't really want to have to get higher cfm fans, for noise reasons, just to keep the same airflow in the case.

Use a stretched pair of tights... impacts airflow a lot less than a regular filter. You get to go wear them before you put them in too, and how many opportunities does a man truly get to wear black tights? Not enough I say!

Lol!

I can't wait to see the look on the mrs' face when I get home tonight and ask her for a pair of tights!!! :D

Richdog, Any recommendations on denier? I'm running a 120mm Akasa fan, and I'm wondering whether I should go for a 15 or 50 denier? What do you think? Any brand recommendations? I was looking at Pretty Polly, but I hear they tend to ladder on fitting.

Do you think I'd get any funny looks if I went into somewhere like M&S and asked to try out their different ranges??

But on a serious note, are they actually any good for filtering the air? And how much impact would they have on airflow?

"Hello Miss M&S Assistant. Can you show me to the tights please, I'd like to try and breathe through a few pairs. You know, just to see how they compare"

lol

:p

i worry about geeks soemtimes

But at least you know they're all here together in one place and not out worrying the real world. I mean, it's not like anyone would really go to M&S and try that would they?

Or would they???
