Fancy a change, dog and child friendly choices

Some other options I found in your price bracket:

Mazda 6 - Gets good reviews.
Subaru Forrester
Subaru XV5
Skoda Yeti - Well liked on Top Gear.

Detailed reviews would be available at honestjohn.co.uk and parkers.co.uk.

Not sure if these would be luxurious enough for you though.

Make sure you drive one - I imagine it'll be fine if you like that kind of car but even the sport feels very, very big to move around. They really aren't my thing at all but they are superbly comfortable. I wasn't much impressed by the diesel RR sport I drove performance wise - depends what you're expecting I guess.

*edit* that was a 2.7 - I think

thanks I think that may be the same engine that is in my mate's discovery and that is wildly slow

If I go for a SUV I will want a large engine:)

Honestly not sure whether I'm just bored of the estate and want a change or whether an SUV will work for us, will try some. I did used to have a Nissan Navara and while I quite liked the novelty of it for a while it was slow and felt very workmanlike (for obvious reasons)

A Audi Q7 is massive and swallows up **** like you wouldnt believe, plus its a 7 seater so gives vergood flexibility.

I'd say Range-rover or Q7 is the best bet. The C class merc isnt all that special, and certainly not as posh as what you have already.

Suprisingly there isnt much choice when your criteria is big quick and posh!

We have a 530GT, yes its a little ugly from the outside but its a fantastic car, the interior is really nice, its quick and handles well.

The boot is HUGE, the rears seats are very comfortable and actually recline.

We have a E350 and a S-Class in the family and the 5 is definitely the better car.

some pics for you

Thanks, the pics look great. It is still a strong contender. I had fully negotiated a deal on one but just had a wobble at the last minute and bailed. I'm sure I would have been happy with it. I test drove a 535d GT as well - that was fantastic but out of price range.
