After thinking about the fleet of über high mileage Octavias/other taxis you have, 300,000 -half a million miles wasn't it you said?!?! I'm pretty intregued as to what the interior of the car looks like after that time!

My golf has just gone over 130,000 miles and the steering wheel is pretty shiny, the rubbers is slightly cracking on the back of it, the bolstering in the drivers seat is shot on the door side and the fabric pretty faded etc etc.

It got me thinking how the hell does an Octavia look after 3 times that treatment! Granted not a hugely exciting thread, but I wouldn't mind seeing pics of the galactic fleet!

pft. I have a l reg MK3 golf with 147k on it. The interior is immaculate. a lot of my mates cant believe how clean it is inside. The previous owner must have been a got of interior valet cos its immaculate.

my mondeo is close to 135k now still in great nick, steering wheel isnt shiny or marked, only sign of wear is on the door handle where the electric window switches are, i think thats a common wear point on the mk3 i was in a 54 plate 110k tdci yesturday and wear marks in same place, that interior was also in excellent condition. focus's wear very badly from my experiance i've had ones with 75k and 60k and they felt pretty tired..

are the bolsters in the drivers seat not 'knackered' when compared to the passenger side?

Sure my M reg golf looks and photographs fine, it is solidly built, and doesn't look overly worn, I think hard plastics are a good point here nice solid dash! Just the few contact points and the seat are worn, but half a million miles sitting in one point working away at one wheel sounds harsh in my eyes!

there all immaculate, seats are permanantly covered with waterproof covers (hooraa friday nights) and only thing we really find wear with is steering wheels going shiny like they all do and floormats (the genuine skoda ones fall apart )

if you want i'll take some piccies of some of ours

maybe its something with the age? our oldest in service is a 53 plate (the last 51 plate was sold before xmas and the Y plater last month) granted the old Y reg was starting to look a bit tatty inside but nothing was broken nothing was worn excessivley,

I"ll say one thing for Skoda, they make the octavias to last 406's on the other hand tend to loose the bolsters and eventually start to rip after a couple of years (from the ones i've seen=I dont have any) Bear in mind though 9 times out of ten your passengers are in the rear of the car (no bolster wear) the seats are covered (in case of vomit or pee) so they are well protected I'd hate to see one with a couple of years use that had been unprotected :)

sounds like from the pictures they'd all look new (boring!)

depending how long this golf lasts I am eyeing up galactic taxis for my next ride! (as already discussed ;) )

best move you'll ever make :)

high mileage yes, but most are well looked after (time off the road costs money) and depending on the mileage can be had for buttons

seen a 56 plate octavia tdi (A4 shape) go through the auction last week for 3k (albeit with 90k miles )

big miles scares joe bloggs and car traders wont touch em because of this,

Pah!

This HGV has done 907551km or, 563926Miles.

Nope, my bolsters are still nice and firm. Not worn at all. No faded colour or anything. Main reason ive decided to keep it.
