FAO people in london... living wage?

If you're happy to share and not live alone, you can find house/flat shares for £450 in London quite easily.

Will they offer you London weighting or an increase in pay for moving to London?

Thanks, I commute into Leeds city center at the moment, and its a cool city, ok camden is also cool, but I'm not that fussed for the whole city thing.

I couldn't share unless it's someone I know and trust, girlfriend or very good male friend.. I'm kinda thinking it's not for me at the mo.

Cheers

42K in London is extremely do-able and you should actually have a bit left over if your sensible with your money. Are you on your own?

If he's renting by himself in Clapham then it really doesn't go that far.

For all the people saying 30k is doable in London you would presumably mean by living in a flatshare, living outside zone 1 or 2 (or living in a rough area in zone 1/2 if renting by yourself) etc...

I am actually moving up with a friend who is on 30k. I think it will be do-able in fact I am sure it will be. I want to be able to live the london life as well rather than just survive. the new place is ~£1500 p/m + bills.

Im sure we will do just fine.

+1 for bromley area though, I looked there and you get soo much more for the money and it really isn't hard to get into london. I just fancied being as close to central as possible for the first couple of years.

op, have you though about the suburbs around london say zone 6. upminster / brentwood are very nice and only 30 min form zone 1

I don't know anything about the travel zones, but my current commute is 30-50 mins, or if I drive, 15mins, so anything under say an hour, wouldn't bother me.

I've done it whilst running a car and a bike. Yup I did share a flat (with a friend of mine), but it was a big victorian conversion with lots room so more than agreeable.

I'd never consider living in zone 1 or 2. Suburbs is where it's at!

I had disposable income and was able to go on a few holidays a year too. You just have to know how to manage your money. :)
