Far Cry - Annoying the hell out of me

Ok, I install farcry and start it up and it shows as v1.0, however none of the patches will install it tells me there is another patch and that needs uninstalling first.

So I go along with it, it removes whatever patch at first then install the 1.1/1.3/1.31/1.32/1.33 patches, but after installing them (even just one) the game then ends up freezing on the loading screen before it even gets past the splash screens.

It is so infuriating, just wondering if anyones come across this?

Is this a store bought version or a oem graphic card versioN#n?

If you want to play the SP game then only install the 1.3 patch. It looks like you installed the 1.1 and then the 1.3 patch on top of it and that will cause problems.
If you want to play online (/shudders at the memory of the poor hit detection) then you will need to install the patchs in the following order 1.3>1.31>1.33.

Of course the problem you will now have is to remove all the patches and their registry entries or you will still have problems. The best way is to run each patch in reverse order to how you installed them and choose uninstall patch on each occassion or just use the repair function from the original CD to revert farcry to v1.0.
Once you have a vanilla v1.0 install the correct patches and you should be ok.

nope still can't get it to load

I installed it, then installed the 1.3 patch and no matter what I do it always freezes on the opening splash screen, the picture of jack and val and the build info in the top right corner.
