Far Cry crash at carrior entry

i enter the carrier on the frist lvl of the campain after spotting it, as soon as i get the loading screen as i get in, the game just crashes and goes back to desktop.

any ideas on what this is?

You know, I'm just playing through FC again and mine did something similar. It didn't crash, but I remember it did something "strange" in that exact spot you mention - I can't remember what exactly, but I remember thinking it was weird.

I know that doesn't exactly help, but still

That used to happen to me too. Try reinstalling the patches.

nope, using 4.1 with hdr set to 7 using the command \r_hdrrendering 7 and only things i have running in the background is

xfire
msn
winamp
and the razer tray icon

its crashing in the exact same place everytime!!! really want to play this game, its driveing me nuts

one thing my mate said was the demo finished at that point... due to it going onto the next load of lvl. and i just realised that i didnt have to type in a cd key during installation. cos i bought the game from a bargain bucket at morrisons for 3 quid lol, might this have something to do with it? the game stopping me from playing further due to no key being entered? also, if so, where do i enter the key in?

From what I remember you don't have to type a key in, I think it's just for multiplayer. Try reinstalling the whole lot.

also install the 64bit content if you have 64bit setup other wise get the 64bit content for 32bit patch and enjoy higher rez textures.

Tried it with a single one of your cards ?

Also patch 1.3 contains

* Fixed a bug that prevented levels from loading after saving in a previous level.

so you could re-try the 1st level without saving or if you are using the big cumulative 1.4 patch you could try the individual incremental patches
