Fastest memory setuo on a dual channel board?

Are 4x sticks better than 2x (all Memory specs being identical?)

So, assuming we have 16GB of memeory split either as 4x4GB or 2x8GB what would be faster in terms of I/O

My colleague says 4x4 and I say 2x8GB.

Obviuosly, this depends on what you are doing but which is best for what?

I'd go for option 3... the performance would be the same.

No difference in performance, just how it's registed by the board.

2 x 8GB gives you space for another 16GB, apart from that, nothing.
