SSDs do remove bottlenecks that can speed up OS performance, mostly when loading apps, but at some other times too. The RAM in a modern PC when benched as a disk (configured as a RAMdisk) hits 9-14GB/s if I recall.

I don't think cooling will be a problem for these anymore than it is for any other SSD. They leverage their extra transfer rate by running internally on the card in a 4x RAID0 config, so no more heat necessarily than 4 standalone SSDs would produce.

As impressive as these are, for once I'm at a loss for what I would really use it for (aside from epeen). Good for someone probably, but quite niche and very exclusive even for existing pricey SSD consumers. I just can't imagine any desktop usage that would really justify even half of the performance these have for any sustainable duration to make them sensible (though I bet they're an absolute dream for many server ops). To have such a need or purpose alone would also be quite impressive.

They'll be down to £40 each in a few years.
I'll bide my time thankyou very much, I'm in no hurry to load anything at the speed of light.
 
Should point out that these now support trim, which the previous two versions didn't making these now a viable local storage solution
 
Are there going to come with the hand finished poorly soldered extra wires and cut traces?

Will they also work on more mobos this time?

A smaller cheaper X2 with the higher speed would be better
 
i wonder why the Gb/£ gets worse as you go up, maybe it needs more controllers or power phase thingies or something...

For now, I'm just going to tell myself "I'd never notice the speed difference, there's no point" lol

Then when I win the lottery (if I ever start buying tickets!) I'll get a couple of these badboys lol
