Righto I am about to be a father and am shopping for a buggy.

I have been looking at the quinny Buzz3 and the mamas and papas Skate.. I am finding it a hard job to decide what pram to get..

What you guys got and how you rate it.

Cheers

Perhaps this might be an alternative to the usual highstreet offerings.

Congrats btw :)

Well, how do we know what you are looking for?

If you tell us what you want to buggy for, we'll put forward some suggestions.

I have one buggy for general use, one for going running with, one for shopping, two lightweight ones for travelling with, etc etc.

Ok

We only want 1 buggy dont want to have loaded like people do.. I was hoping to get a bugger that would do from birth up to toddlers.... Reason why I mention that quinny buzz and mamas and papas skate to give an idea on what i been looking at..

This is the way it normally goes. You go out and buy the ultimate pushchair/buggy/pram. It has great off road capability, loads of luggage space and all the extras you need, it normally costs a lot. It is great for all of 10 minutes and then you find out that what you actually need is something lightweight, easy to handle and can fold up really small. So you end up getting a cheap Mclaren fold up buggy and then proceed to use that for three years...

Dont think that can be use from birth can it??

Oops no, you're right. :o

We have two prams; a Graco and a MacLaren. From birth we used the Graco, because it has a detachable car seat. We switched to the MacLaren when our daughter was a little older (she's currently ~6 months old).

Our Graco will take any child from birth up to ~15kgs and is very much like this one:

Be advised that Gracos of this type are reasonably heavy and don't fold down well, so you will need plenty of space to store one. They are very convenient, since they offer a complete travel system. But you may find yourself wanting something lighter for short trips, when your baby gets older and heavier. That's when the MacLaren starts to look very attractive.

This is our daughter in the Graco car seat:

And here she is modeling the MacLaren:

whatever you do decide on, make sure that it fits easily into the boot of your car before you get it. The one we got had to have the front wheel taken off each time before it would go in.

Also. make sure that it comfortable to push about if you or your significant other are anything over avergae height as some are lower than others. Don't just go on looks.

hi there mate, congrats btw.

i've got a little one on the way too, hopefully he'll be ready and "cooked" in about 3 to 4 weeks.

when you've decided on what buggy to buy, before buying from the shops check out your local bootsale. no joke. at our local bootsale (dunton in essex) there's this stall that sells ex-demo stuff etc. He had loads of different prams and was explaining the prices to us. he had this really expensive one that does car seat / buggy / pram / baby carrier all in one etc etc. in the shops it sells for like £500 (we did check afterwards and it does sell for around that price), he was selling it (brand new but ex demo) for £150. check out your local bootsale some good deals to be had :)

good luck mate, hope all goes well.

Quinny speedi fx 2009 travel system, good to toddler age and comes with car seat, carry cot and pushchair attachments, picked ours up for 430 but it usually goes around 500+, whatever you buy, make sure it has good wheels, plastic wheels wear out ! also, 3 wheels is a lot easier to steer than 4
