Hello all,

My friend sourced a box for his coupe turbo to replace the current one (bearings had failed) and was going to get around (dreckly) to getting the old box reconditioned. The new box we found online, gauranteed and tried and tested.

Anyhows long story short, he had the box fitted by a garage and its awful. Pops out of second whines and makes thrust bearing like noises with the clutch out, only it isnt as its had a new clutch kit (so I'm assuming the input shaft//bearings are also gone?)

What rights does my friend have with regards to a refund as they've said they can't source another one. Would they just give him a refund and expect him to get the box taken out? It cost a fair whack so understandably he's annoyed when quite obviously this box wasn't tried or tested at all.

Sorry for the long read and thanks very much for any help :)

Cheers for the reply mate, shall have a read after I get back from a mechanics place to see how soon he can recondition his old box!!

Awesome, thanks very much for the reply :) I sourced all the required bearings to rebuild his old box yesterday, he doesn't want the risk of getting another duff box and paying for it to be fitted!

No not doing a repair, his old box has the correct gear ratios and correct speedo drive. It also has iirc the better diff so all should be pretty :) - The company have said they will arrange for someone to come and collect the faulty box once its removed.
