Following on from the favorite jet fighter thread...

Here's mine

Supermarine Spitfire first for all the obvious reasons but next comes...

Bristol Beaufighter

A bull of an aircraft, fast and so quiet the Japenese called it the whispering death...

Also these need a mention:

Hawker "Hurricane",
Hawker "Tempest",
Mitsubishi A6M "Zero"
North-American P-51 "Mustang"

:)

The Grumman F6F "Hellcat" is a good looking plane IMO.

There should be wings either side on there. Forgotten the name of it now but I think it begins with G or GO.

I think its a Gotha Go-229, in fact it is :D

It looks like a jet prototype...

Short Sunderland Mk3
Handly Page Halifax
Consolidated Liberator

I have a thing for heavy bombers and the big aircraft of WW2. As for fighters it would be:
Hawker Typoon
Supermarine Spitfire
Rublican Thunderbolt

I like the Messerschmitt ME163 Komet because it's completely bonkers. Who's great idea was it to have an unstable rocket plane that flew twice as fast as everything else in the sky, only had 20 minutes worth of high-explosive as fuel and had no landing gear? :D :D

Also like the V1 flying bomb from WW2. Not technically an aircraft but there were plans to make a manned version carrying as much explosive. They forgot to tell the pilots that the Argus pulsejet vibrated the chassis of the aircraft so violently when it ran that it would cause massive internal injuries and permanent nerve damage. Here it is:

Hawker Tempest, just for the sound of a 24 cylinder Napier engine at full chat :)
