Recently got the Roccat kave 5.1 which uses 4 3.5mm jacks - front,centre/sub,rear and mic and a USB for the extra power required

this is now my 2nd kave headset as the first one was missing one of the plastic pieces holding the fabric in place in the ear piece and got sent back but did manage to have a quick play with it before sending it back and it had the same feedback issue (was hoping his wouldn't be present on the replacement but it is so it's got me thinking the problem lies with my PC somewhere)

never had any problems with getting feedback on other headsets or sound equipment but these have only ever used the line in and mic connectors.

Did some testing and the feedback goes away as soon as I unplug the USB connector but this limits the usability of the headset somewhat :( Have tried all the available USB ports on my PC including the front panel but the issue doesnt go away.

Details as follows
Case: Antec 902
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (think Rev2) using onboard sound with Realtek Mgr

Any help with this would be much appreciated, not sure if it's a grounding issue or just poor quality connectors either on the headset or on my I/O on mobo

just dismantled my pc and confirmed grounding cable is connected to case and that I have the lil plastic washer things on my mobo mounting screws. but still getting this feedback sound after rebuilding (what a faff)

going to take my headset round to a mates house and test it on his PC see if problem is still present, if any1 has any other idea's let me know :)

tested headset at a mates who was running a new AMD bulldozer rig and didnt have any problems at all with the headset (also had a nicer looking realtek audio mgr to rub it in lol)

just incase any1 else gets this problem with the ga-x58a-ud3r managed to fix it by flashing the bios to the latest version. soooooooo happy can now wear my headset between rounds without wanting to punch myself in the ear

Would be interested to know what was causing the feedback in the first place. Seems odd that a BIOS flash would cure it.

for reference updated from FA to FH3
yeah did seem a little strange to me as well, but was the last thing I had left to try before I ran out of idea's and went out and bought a sound card - still kinda tempted but it's not urgent now so can save my pennies till pay day :)
