feel daft for posting this but

I wouldn't bother to be honest. Its like in fuel injector cleaner, perhaps just removes a tiny amount that will get replaced over the next few thousand miles.

It did make a noticeable difference on my old Megane when I used it for the first time. The engine was 78k miles old by then though. You should have seen the **** that came out of the back and clouded up the street lol.

Well how old is your car, how many miles has it done? It might make a difference, but then if your car is fairly new with low miles I would expect it to do nothing.

Again it depends on your car and mileage. It has made the world of difference to mine. Then again my car is 13 years old and done a lot of miles now. I was dubious at first but having tried it first hand I know the results. I now get two more round trips to work out of a tank more than I used to. It took 4 full treatments though for it to have that effect. The intake was getting quite carbed up (to the extent where the EGR valve was jammed). Cleaning out the EGR valve and using injector cleaner was the last resort before having to remove the intake and cleaning out all the EGR ports. Fortunately the injector cleaner has done the trick so far, though I am sure one day I will have to do the ports.

Having properly read the thread, people seem to think this is a fuel additive ?

When infact its an aerosol that you spray into the air intake ( after the MAF ) Its supposed to loosen up all the crud that your EGR valve puts back into the intake, and get a lot of carbon deposits off the turbo..

I would try it ( my car has done 120,000 miles with the EGR valve plugged in ) but £20 for a can of what a friend believes to be carb cleaner is too expensive.

if it was cheaper i'd deffo try it but £20 seems a lot especially considering that this mondeo engine feels a lot better then my old and uses a lot less fuel i could get about 350 miles per tank out of my old one and i get about 420-450 out of this one(same size tank and engine) my old one had only done 78k aswell its also a lot more responsive even in 5th at 40mph still picks up reasonably quick

I used the diesel on eon my Land Rover once.

I removed the air filter and started the engine as directed, then held the throttle partially opened and sprayed the entire can into the inlet manifold.

What happened next was pretty amazing. The exhaust started pumping out thick white smoke, of a density so thick it filled the street totally and started blocking out daylight. It was so bad, cars were creeping past my house with the headlights on, and loads of people started coming out of their houses to see what was on fire. I continued, it was too late to abort.

After about 4 mins of spraying, I was getting cramp in my fingers from holding the can and the throttle, but the white smoke diminished and the exhaust was running clean again. Eventually I used the whole can up and finished.

It did seem to run smoother after that, quite noticably, maybe it had really cleared about 50k miles of crap. It was more than worth it for the amazing smokescreen it generated though... :)

pull off a vac hose and get your car to breath a pint of water or so.

the water flashing into steam removes coke deposits amazingly well (ever taken the head of a car with a dead head gasket? cleanest pistons youll ever see)

Didn't know it was a spray actually, although doing a similar job as its still getting sucked into the combustion chamber. Vampire did it stop smoking even as you continued to spray? Just wondering if that smoke isnt the spray getting burnt off or something? Does the car struggle to run as you spray it in? Do you need to give it throttle to keep it alive?

Also matt82 not sure the water thing is a great idea with diesels. I've heard it works great as well, but with compression being so high in a diesel i think you would have to be careful not to damage something. Like bending a rod?
