Fermi mid-life kicker comes in 40nm

I don't know much at all about the workings of a graphics card but the 2900xt was pretty much laughed at by all but a few who held out and bought it after massive delays trying to justify their purchase. Yet the 4 series and the 5 series are all based on that architecture, and look how they turned out and by all accounts the 6 series are going to carry on with this trend.

Who is to say that future Fermi based cards will not be the same in that respect.

Duff-Man Said “but to dismiss it outright as a "miserable failure" is short-sighted.”
I often don’t agree with drunkenmaster but in this case he is right. He is not being biased; he might be posting a few assumptions as facts at worse but that not mean he is wrong.

He didn’t say it was an outright miserable failure. He said the card itself is very nice. Just the manufacturing of it is costly and the manufacturing is what he classed as a failure. Which is perfectly fair to say, with the manufacturing problems, being late, running hot, not hitting the targets, being costly to make and whatever else I missed.

He posted a negative comments with a positive comment which is considering both sides of the argument.

I don’t see how drunkenmaster saying the card is nice but the manufacturing process is bad can be classed as being biased.

Come now Pottsey, are you going to comment on bias? How is that physx card working out for you? :p

Read the post as a whole. It is little more than a rant against nvidia, and their design methodology. The only mitigation is the one you highlight, and that is barely any more than a sarcastic dig.
