Love the F40

What a car... I would love to see one in the flesh pull up at the side of me. The sound is one thing on cars like these, that cant be replicated. I adore the sounds of cars with a lot of power, that just floor it from a standing start or a roll

Went to donny show today and saw an f40, then saw it fly round the track, bloody fast. It is a very nice car, the one was part of the gunball 3000.

I love these cars - amazing sound on the overrun, check out the bone-rattling ride, he seems almost in pain when going over the bumps! 162hp/litre is amazing today, in the mid eighties it must have been unreal!

Theres also a few Best Motoring videos of the era where they drive one through the Japanese mountains, sideways, inches from a signpost with flames spitting out the back, then proceed to kick butt on Tsukuba, leaving its nearest competitor several seconds behind.

Okay I’m going to go against the grain and admit that I’m not a huge fan of the F40, yes it is without doubt an amazing super car, but looks wise it just appears a little cheap. Too much like a kit car and not something designed by Ferrari, but I guess that’s due to kit cars copying the look.

But if someone wants to give me an F40 I won’t say no.

In its day its design was modern and up to date. It looks cheap now as supercar quality has moved on in leaps and bounds (buyers just arent prepared to put up with supercars of old anymore).

People that buy F40s now do so because they're stripped out and have extremely thin paint and Italian build quality. You don't go shopping for a Merc SLR and come home with an F40...
