FG Monster Truck rtr anygood

FG`s are not really for bashing, land it any way other than all 4 wheels and its gonna break something.

Plus, FG`s are not ready to run, you need to buy all the electrics seperatly (radio, servo`s etc).

FG`s are bloody good trucks however, and have a magnitude of hop-ups around, but they are more for racing and small jumps.

If you really want a basher however, I would highly reccomend a HPI Baja.
You might want to wait a little while however, as spares are not readily availible, and it has a couple of minor issues that need sorting.
Plus its a true ready to run, just charge the batterys, mix your fuel and your away :)

I had FG Marder for a couple of years and it was great.

With 26cc engine, the acceleration is almost instant.

Despite being more expensive kit, fuel and maintenance is actually cheaper due cheap unleaded fuel and £10 piston ring for engine, rather than new piston & sleeves.

However, I had sold it because I didn't use it much and there's no one to race against. Also it's big and quick, meaning you need more space to cover.

They're great (large scale petrol cars)
However the MT doesn't handle as well as the buggies, and can be quite bouncy and easier to flip. They're not as fast as the buggies either, and can't corner as fast. Handle off-road better though.

As with any RC car you need a radio system, so really they're not that expensive, in fact nitro can work out more expensive after you factor in a good engine (OS) ontop of a £300.

Checkout RC Universe for more info. I would buy one from Hobbytek Germany, it'll be cheaper than buying within the UK. Make sure you buy a decent radio with failsafe

I have a FG Leopard btw.

oh the RTR FG's are pap IMO, cheap servos, cheap radio. I would buy the other ones without radio and buy them seperatly. You need 11Kg+ on the throttle/brake, and 25kg+ on the steering (quarter scale) I use two Hitec 805MG for steering, and a Hitec 645MG for T/B, Futaba 3PK PCM. Metal gear servos are worthwhile.

Why not get some extended tvp's for your savage and some larger wheels (hotbody fireballs or something)? would that keep you happy? :)

Yeah the FG MT isn't a good design, it back flips easily- it's basically a Marder with a few changes, it needs to be a totally different chasis with the engine moved forward.

I would get one of the buggy chassis (Marder, Leopard, Pajero) which I was talking about. One bloke on the forums sold his Marder and purchased a MT, totally unhappy on that decision.

Apart from that petrol has advantages over nitro cars

Wow thanks for all your comments guys think i will give the fg mt a miss and take a look at the other fg models.

Buy it from here, postage from Germany is only £30, arrived within 3 days, and around £100 cheaper than UK prices!

Bloody great customer service, they paid both ways for a faulty engine and was sorted in less than a week. I didn't have to chase them up, unlike some other retailers. I wouldn't buy a Baja, it's expensive and has a few design flaws. It's £700. FG Leopard is £660, plus radio gear.

This is the FG Leopard (sprayed)

I would get the Marder Race or the Leopard. One thing you need to replace on the Marder is the RC plate. It's not that stiff, flexes quite a bit. Get a alumnium one. The RC plate on the Leopard is much better, and it comes with a tuned pipe, which isn't included on the Marder Race (roughly £90) Leopard has a few other upgraded parts as well. Leopard comes with a poly body, Marder brittle ABS plastic. Also has ball drives.Worth the extra for these.

:)

I wouldn't buy a Baja, it's quite expensive, lacks space for additional servos (ie dual steering, front disc) and has a few problems with broken parts. I spotted this months before the release, and I was right. :)
