Fifa 2008 and gamepad issue online

I have a 360 wireless controller and want to play with the D-Pad rather than the analogue stick. I set it to digital for move player in the options and on single player i can use the D-Pad fine. However everytime i play online it reverts to the analogue stick even though the options still say digital....anyone come across this, driving me insane. Thanks.

Try on the drivers config utility swapping over the D pad or POV for the analogue
Like map up down left right to the analogue
