France should beat Morocco, but Morocco are doing well so might be a great game. Prediction FRA-4-2 MOR

Spain and Belgium, should be Spain but lukaku needs 1 chance.. Prediction SPA-1 -0 BEL

Norway and England, lol. We should win but Haaland is a legend and Englands defence is not great. Prediction ENG-2-1 NOR

Argentina and Switzerland, on paper Argies should win but lets hope they get knocked out. Prediction ARG-2-1 SWI

3-1 to Morocco. 2-1 to Belgium, 3-2 to England. Henderson to burst onto the pitch in celebration and hurt himself again. Argentina to use their plot armour to grind out an extra time 1-0 win vs the Suisse

I really want to see something like this. It'd be quite nice for Morocco to go through, but I'm not so sure with it being France... we'll see!

If they can combine the attacking they have shown this tournament along with the *********** from Paraguay which is apparently totally OK, they can do it. First 10 minutes, elbow to Mpappes face, flying knee to Dembeles head and the peoples elbow to Doue. One player given a final warning that a yellow will be shown next time they try to kill a man. France get 3 yellows for light retaliation.

Got Morocco in my work sweepstake and Spain in the OcUK one.

Bit annoyed they could face each other in the semi tbh, not sure a Ducky keyboard is more important to me than 4 years of gloating at work.

A little concerning that we’ve got quite a few yellows, if they get a 2nd then they’re out the semi, right?

Kane, Bellingham, Rice, Guehi, O’Riley, Henderson (lol)

It’s also way too bold to be resting them…If we beat Norway and go into Argentina without those first 3/4 names, eek.

Edit - turns out Kane isn’t on a yellow.

Is it just 2 cards they need for a missed game?

The revised disciplinary system was introduced because of the tournament's expanded format, which now includes a round of 32. FIFA believed the previous rules would have been too harsh over a longer knockout schedule, so yellow cards are now reset after the group stage and again after the quarter-finals.

Surely 2 yellows don't equal a red over a few games. That would be madness. You could easily get two soft or incorrect yellows and miss a game as a result. Refs don't worry too much about dishing out yellows, probably because they are just an in game warning for the most part.

Turns out it is madness and those are the rules.

Oh I don’t think Kane has a yellow, the first list I saw said he did!

This was famously the cause of Gazza's tears

Yeah normally when the group stage completes the yellows are wiped, Gazza got one in round of 16 and one in the semi

This time seems sensible, wipe before the semis so you could pick up a yellow in the semi and still make the final

When Gazza got his there were people who had had 2 yellows missed a game (from other teams) who could play in the final but with two he would miss it

5 England players need to avoid a yellow vs Norway, or they will miss teh (potential) semi
  • Harry Kane
  • Jude Bellingham
  • Declan Rice
  • Marc Guehi
  • Nico O'Reilly
