Final Fantasy 16

Here's an in game for anyone wondering, meant to post it last night but was half asleep:

The combat being "DMC lite" is super accurate as a description, some are going to enjoy that and others absolutely wont. I love the theme and characters, the story is solid in my opinion but opinions are going to vary. The game does look good and run well, but I do think there might be a CPU related issue judging from chatting with friends. I'm on a 5800X3D/32gb ram/4070 and running this on a Gen4 NvME with W10. It plays at 4K, DLSS balanced 50-60fps, I did note problems with frame gen and the variable resolution scaling setting which I turned off and had a better experience after doing so. Music and art direction are fantastic, I would say make sure you have healthy expectations before buying, but it is a good game overall.

I will likely grab it in a year or two I think. Needs to be like £20 for the deluxe version of the game that has the dlc or something.

Wish they would go back to turn based game play. Imagine how that would look like if done right! But I doubt we will get that :(

The company has a bit of a history where when it was on the edge of failure the original Final Fantasy saved it, I think it was a sort of hail mary/reinvention moment and they've put that into the series ever since. I do feel they've lost their way due to the idea of an ever evolving franchise, they've hit so many evolutionary dead ends it isn't even funny at this point. They made mega money in the 90's and early 00's because they couldn't do wrong, and they keep pushing but totally fail to understand why they blew up with the series and retained an audience in the way that they did.

I really like FF16, I think it's the best game in the mainline series since 10. That said, outside of the music and crossover with one or two concepts like summons I don't feel like I'm playing a Final Fantasy game as much as a spin off.

I've heard rumours about an FF9 remake for awhile now, I sincerely hope that if it happens they give us TB because I'm not playing it otherwise. It worked in the sense I was willing to give it a pass with the FF7 remake, but the themes are so incredibly different I flat out refuse to do FF9 with real time combat.

Never played FF before but the demo is good. Lot of cutscreens though. Very Game of Thrones-ish
Don't be lulled into thinking the demo is representative of the game as a whole - it isn't. The demo is the best bit by far ; story starts out dramatic, brutal even. And yes, you could say Game of Thrones-esque. But it falls off a cliff after the initial 3-4 hrs. It's almost as if G.R.R Martin provided the story for the demo, but then I took over for the rest of the game.

Tried letting the graphics drivers update automatically, but still didn't fix it.
Downloaded 24.20.11.01, it seems to have fixed the issue of crashing during the cut scenes.

Now I think I need to mod the cut scenes to more that 30fps.
