Enter your reg, tick the box and check you're on the Motor Insurer's Database. Of course you can also be nosy and check on other people and grass them up if necessary

I tried that with 2 cars my dads gives you the brand and type of car with my reg it just gives me a one way sign.. odd.

I get the sign on mine too, but probably because it's an import.

excellent, the post office should use this site for when your waiting for the cover note to come to tax the car..

erm.. my mate wrote off his car in may this year, it was crushed ect insurance jobby but it says the car is insured?? lads now in a 325ci so doubt hes paying to insure a fiesta..

Is it not instantaneous - ANPR picks up your plate and then checks on the database, just as fast as that site surely?

yes as I understand it most traffic cars are fitted with ANPR camera's which scan the road ahead for reg plates and automatically check them all. So basically if you pass one of these cars in an uninsured car you are all but guaranteed to be stopped unless you have trade plates showing.

only thing with ANPR is someone could be driving a car insured in someone elses name and they'll get away with it all day unless they get pulled, which they wont unless there doing 33 in a 30.
