Finland

Isn't Rovaniemi too south for the Northern Lights? Most Northern Lights hotels/cabins are at least 250km further north

I've seen the Northern Lights in Rovaniemi so no, it might be more likely if you are a bit further North (i.e. a bit clearer to look at) but there's no guarantee of seeing them anywhere. If you're going with the express intention of seeing the Northern Lights you might end up disappointed, I was in Finland for about 3 months and saw them twice (although I admit I wasn't looking for them every night) so you may be better picking somewhere where there are other things to do than just keep an eye out for them.

I have seen the Northern Lights in Laukaa and that is in the middle. It depends on so many factors. Just don't be too dissapointed if you do not see them it is not a guaranteed.

Check the domestic operators for flights? Finnair, SAS. If you fly to Rovaniemi or Oulu then Blue1 fly to those places.

Crazy Finns - fear them... :)
