Fire TV Stick vs. Fire TV

I own a gen one Fire TV stick and I find the slow/laggy response when scrolling thrrough menu's very irrating. So I've decided to upgrade but I am unsure whether to get the gen 2 Fire TV Stick or the 4k Fire TV.

My TV is HD and I don't intend to upgrade to 4K anytime soon. I'm also not worried about future proofing as when I upgrade my TV/AV the then current streaming devices will likely be much more advanced.

SO, my question is, will a gen 2 Fire TV Stick provide lag free scrolling or will I be better opting for the 4k Fire TV which has more processing power and ram?

Unless you need specific Amazon features and or wired ethernet I'd get the new 4k Roku stick usb (just happens to do 4k and HDR) EVERY fire tv box or stick I've tried or used all are glitchy in some respect or other.

I had the same problem with my 1st Gen Fire Stick.

I went with the Fire TV Pendant (3rd Gen) and it is lag free, the picture quality is also noticeably better even though I only use it in 1080p mode...

I own both the gen 1 firestick and the gen1 fire TV (Or I at lest think there both are gen 1)

And I find my Fire TV is far better then the fire stick

Plus my Fire TV supports voice commands where my Fire stick does not..
Which I use for displaying my CCTV camera's on TV

I'll look into this but I was interested in trying kodi out, I suppose I could keep the firestick for kodi though but ideally I'd like to have fewer remotes.

I would get a used 2nd gen 4k box from Cex still the best option.

This is a good idea, next time I'm in the highstreet I'll pop in. I saw some refurbished ones on amazon for £65 but this is such a small saving I may as well buy new.

I'd love to get some smart home stuff but as a poor student I cannot justify the cost. The new integrated dot/fire tv device does look good though as the voice controls would mean that my 19 month old hiding the remote wouldn't be such a problem!
