Firefox has suddenly stopped working. It loads but comes up with 'no server found'. IE is fine.

It happended after I updated to 2.0.0.7. I have tried without my firewall and Kaspersky but its still the same.

I've uninstalled 2.0.0.7 and deleted the Mozilla profile folder and the Mozilla folder in Program Files. Rebooted and installed 2.0.0.6 again. Same thing happens 'can't connect to server'. It doesn't even try to load a page just comes straight up with 'Can't connect to server'.

Strange thing is over the last couple of months my google homepage randomly changed to the Chezkslovakian version and then the next day it would be the English version  Thought it was just a bug or something.

Kaspersky has also flagged up the Firefox uninstaller as 'Riskware'. :(

I'm in need of help please.

Have you checked that FF is set to 'Auto detect connection settings' in the network tab?

Also, when you launch FF does it try and load your home page in the address bar or is there a different web page listed as default?

Any firewalls? It sounds like Kaspersky, or a firewall somewhere, has blocked Firefox.

The Czech Google search seems to be a problem with Google.

Yes after googling last night I'm sure I checked the network tab in options and it was set to auto detect.

Yes my google homepage Is trying to load when I first start firefox.

I'm using Comodo firewall, been using it fine for a year or so with Firefox. I've switched off both Comodo and Kaspersky but its still the same. The way FF loads up look like something is blocking it or it doesn't know how to connect to the internet. Its just bam 'server not found'.

Is the Czech google thing well known because thats the bit thats worrying me? Hope I've not been hacked or something.

I'm at a loss here. I thought a clean install with 2.0.0.6. would have sorted it.:(

That may be, but when you upgrade there's a good chance that any firewall will block it.
There's a thread here about it.

It's been posted about a few times on here, I haven't looked to see if there's a bug been filed or it's been mentioned anywhere else - mostly because I can't reproduce it myself.
The "solution" was to install a Google UK search rather than one that depended on the browser's locale.

Im having problems with the latest update as well, its working but its deleted my profile

It's almost certainly still there.

When FF updated I allowed access via Comodo.

About the Czech issue I started a thread a few months ago about it, but I didn't follow it up and just left it. I'll try the Google UK search solution if I ever get FF back.

I'll try it when I get home from work.

On another note toilen I've lost my password and can't get access the OCUK forums from home, only at work. I've been emailing a load of dons etc. for the past month, but I've given up in frustration as I've not heard anything back from anyone. My registered OCUK email has changed due to moving ISP. Now its a hotmail account, which could be the sticking point. I have a work email address if thats any better? Can I email you my details? I really need this sorting out please.

D'oh.
Email ocuk at tolien dot co dot uk (substituting words for symbols to form a proper email address of course).
