This just started today (or perhaps for a while; ive not taken notice whether a YT video is playing html5 or not). I've never had a problem like this before, but whenever I open a html5 video in YouTube, it lags firefox to hell.
You need to join and unjoin from the html5 trial to disable html5 on youtube.
That html5 on youtube is pretty poorly implemented at the moment imo. If you read the youtube forums they are full of people complaining about problems with it.
Turns out it lags on any html5 video. I've tried using a new profile and it doesn't make a difference. However if I turn off video accelleration, it doesn't lag anymore.
The only thing I changed recently really was the overclock on my i7. I brought it up from standard to 4Ghz. I can't imagine this would be the cause of the problem though.
Edit: I updated my drivers (which were only a few months old) and everything's fine again.
