Hi There,

I am looking to put together a build that for a dedicated HTPC that I could easily upgrade for gaming duties with the addition of a decent GPU. The build needs to be low profile as it is going in the unit under the TV.

The build I have put together is below. I would probably team it up with the BGT3595 TV tuner from BlackGold.

CPU AMD Athlon II X3 440 3.0GHz Processor £54.63
HDD Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB £43.99
MB MSI 890GXM-G65 AMD 890GX MATX £104.33
Optical LiteOn iHOS104 Blu-Ray/DVD ROM Reader £45.00
PSU Be Quiet Special Edition White 600W E7 Modular PSU £59.99
RAM OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM D... £69.65

Total - £377.59

My expectation was that when (if!) PowerColor released their low profile 5770 I could easily slot that in for my gaming needs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,
Vypur.

For another £20 you could get a quad core, which will help later if you plan to game.

Actually its only another £16 as it seems the X3 cpu you list has increased in price.

I thought that there were only very few games out at the moment that could actually use the 4th core? I thought also that I would have a go and see if I could unlock the 4th core on the X3.
