I never needed a car before, so there was never a reason to get one, I mean why buy a car and pay for it to sit on the drive 24/7? Now I need one, basically something to go from A to B twice a week really, and the shops or nearby town.

I don't want to be one of those who go out and buy a car, come back and start a thread and say "I got a new car !" and then get told "You should've come to us first before spending money on that rust bucket.". Therefore, here I am, £4k ish to spend, I am now 30 years old (I know!), first car. I want something like a Polo or Civic may be? Don't really want big cars, yes I know I can get a LOT more for my money but i really don't want a family saloon, call it a personal preference, but i guess I will never say never if it is a true bargain.

So, what should I get? I am lost in the world of Motors.
 
Focus 1.6/2.0

You're older than 17 so would look silly in a fiesta.

The 1.8 focus gives the performance of the 1.6 only with less fuel economy. The insurance difference between the 1.8 and the 2.0 should be negligible with you being 30.

With a focus he'll have more room, more power and more self respect :p

I've nothing against small cars bytheway, I drive one.
 
I don't mind a Focus actually, probably cheaper to run and insure than a Civic too. Ideally I would LOVE a Mini but I am about another £4k short to get a half decent one, plus its my first car so don't really want to spend that much.
 
tbh, thats one of the silliest opinions ever.
You'd give a suzuki vitara owner more respect than an elise owner. Odd.

It's your opinion and you are entitled to it, that doesn't stop it from being total crap ;)
