I passed my driving test about 2 weeks ago now and ive been looking on Auto Trader primarily for cars

Ive got around £2700 to spend on a car and insurance.

I've pretty much decided on a 306 1.9 Dturbo, can pick up a phase 1 for around £1000 and ive got a quote of £1500 TPFT from Quinn Direct.

Ive found a link for a car auction in close by in Preston and was wondering if anyone here has any experience of buying a car at auction and could give me any pointers.

Thanks for the help!

I cannot imagine a Phase 1 DTurbo at auction being anything but a nail. Infact, it's hard to imagine any Phase 1 DTurbo being anything but a nail now, they are simply too old.

Can't you manage a Phase 2, or a Xsara TD?

I'm not defiantly getting a car from auction it was just a suggestion, I'm looking everywhere

I could stick another £300 on the budget if i left it another month but is it worth it just to get a similar mileage newer phase?

A friend of mine went from a phase 1 1.9D to a Phase 2 1.9 Dturbo, although its more aesthetically pleasing the build quality isn't much different

You make a fair point.

Anyway back to my other question. Does anyone have any experience with car auctions, although the cars may have been ragged if i can pick up a small bargain then it may be worth a look.

Although my primary efforts are going into the autotrader
