First car insurance

Hey all

I'm just looking for new insurance for my 1990 Golf 1.6.

The best quote i've found so far is £150 a month with Direct Line.

What's the cheapest any of you found when you were 17~ ?

Also, would you reccomend getting fully comp over tpft?

I Paid 90 pound a month on a 2 litre rover 220 petrol third party fire and theft at 17

Hmm.. they just quoted me more than double your quote.

I've just found Virgin to be cheaper, £1600 a year.

I guess it depends on area although I tried a few VW golfs 1.6 and 1.6 quotes and they came out massively higher than any other similar cars, rovers seem to be far cheaper

and ring around, online quotes are usually not great as they dont allow discount that can be given by the operator and cant add pass plus etc on some. and on the phone you can play insurers off each other to try to gain more discount

try some of the local ones....u got that one by opposite cop shop, they usually quite cheap

For your first year fully comp i would say is pointless.

ecarinsurance is bad for me. Bell gives me good quotes.

I've just had my insurance renwel through on my fiesta 1.1 (first car) It was £700 for the first year it's now £500 with 1 years no claims. Avoid DirectLine with there parent policy type thing.

OUCH!!!!! just tried ecarinsurance myself they want want nearly £4k TPFT for my 1.8 Mondeo

i used a company called highway on a 2.0 cav when was 17 and a learner it was £900 for 12 months

try admiral or elephant there usualy good for young drivers (both same company using diffrent names) but they do quote diffrent
