First car?

Im 19 and decided i need to start driving and have NO idea what car to get.

My insurance in general will be high cause of m26 postcode, looking to spend upto £1000 on a car...

Saw a peaugot 306, 5 years old for £995 in the garage.. ?

your insurance will be high because statistically you will write off your car, not because of where you live.

Don't get a deathtrap, you can get quite a good car for a grand.
 
You'll probably smack it into a variety of high kerbs, trees, wing mirrors etc. so you may as well get something cheap and reliable.

£995 sounds reasonable though even though it's French.

I never understand why people always say this, I never found this to be the case, nor have I with any of my friends when we first started out.

It almosts comes across as acceptable, surely if you hit such objects you will be atrocious at parking?

Try living in Manchester. I live in M26 and my cheapest quote with 1 years ncb is still £1200 on a 1.6 focus. If I put my mate's address, it drops to under £700.
