First DSLR - sub £400... which one?

You enjoying it russ?

450d is the way to go, £400 budget will mean lucky to get a 40d body only, no lens with it

Not sure if you're interested, but I'm selling off all my photo kit and thinking of putting this lot up for sale shortly for £250+£10 delivery as a "Starter kit" and selling the rest seperatly. Includes a Canon 20D, 18-55mm lens, Lowe Pro bag, remote shutter, extra batteries, dust blower, manual and 8GB worth of Compact Flash cards. Off travelling in a few months so have to flog everything I own before I move!

Just to throw a curveball in there:

I have a D80 and I love it, it with a 50mm f/1.8 and 18-55. It's by no means a "starter camera" but it's a lovely bit of kit, if you're lucky you can pick up a 2nd hand D80 body for £250 off the 'bay

Doesn't happen often at that price unfortunately.

But yes the D80 should be taken into consideration, but the 450D is also a good camera to go for!

I just got a 350D from Phate on here and for a starter its amazing, I know there is a lot you can do with better cameras but you dont know if you'll like it or whatever so you might be better off with somethin a little further down the scale and just upgrading to better lenses if you decide you like it.

Me and my mate both got 350Ds with bags tripos and 2 lenses for less than 250.

Yeah, perhaps find a 350/400D, BUT I CERTAINLY reccomend getting a 50mm f1.8 becuase you get the ability to use the camera in loads more situations compared to the kit lens!!
