First Halo 3 Campaign Screenshot

What the ! That looks miles better than the first campaign screenshot! :eek: (this is the second you wally, the first has the same pose)

In his visor, he is watching what appears to be an explosion...

It's entirely possible that it's actually a screencap of a cutscene, because the picture is 1280x720, the normal resolution for actual games.

Looks amazing I hope they keep it up! They said the graphics are better in campaign than in multiplayer unlike in the first 2 games.

Hehe, forgot about that picture, didnt even know it was a campaign shot.

Seems bump mapping has disappeared but i didn't really like the look of it anyway, looked like the suit was made of stone or something.
 
The bumpmapping is hugely prominent :s The indents on his arm glove plates for a start, consists entirely of bumpmaps. His visor's indent is a bumpmap. Etc. Unless of course you mean the horrible goosebump-like texturing in the first shot, yeah that looked pretty bad.

Is it no co-incidence that it's a week before E3?

Everything on there is bump/normal mapped!

I'm quite put off by the low-resolution texture on Master Chief, as well as the massively bumped rather than modelled section between his neck and chest.
 
Ah sorry >< Frankie is one of the guys at Bungie. He oversees the PR surrounding Halo, as well as the weekly updates. He's just called 'Frankie'.

Ahh, makes more sense now :)

On a side note, I finally got my PS3 updated and accepted your friends request :).
 
Frankie used to do the weekly updates for Bungie amongst other things me thinks. Is it me or is that forum running immensely slowly?

Great, nice one dude. Offtopic maybe, but when Tekken 5 DR Online comes, will you be getting that also?

I already have the full game so I'll probably buy the update. It's a pretty good game, not as good as I thought after owning VF5 though.

I'd much rather lose bump mapping in favour of more detailed environments, 60 fps and a decent pace with no slowdown.
