first night photographing live music

my first night photographing live music went pretty well i feel, just finished going through them all. heres the best of the lot;

i was stuck at the side of the stage hence the lack of pictures of the bassists, but i was a bit nervous and didn't want to walk in front of the crowd :lol: maybe next time,
the impromptu stage invasion at the end was pretty good to photograph also,
other than that i think there pretty well to say thats the first time i have done photography of this sort.
i just stuck to normal shots for my first time, didn't attempt any long exposure shots

thoughts?

Look alrite to me mate. I'm yet to try live band photography and I'd be happy if I pulled off something similar first time.
What Camera gear were you using and what sort of exposure/aperature/iso?

450d. 50mm 1.8
used a vast array of settings, but mainly stuck to 800iso(some were 1600, some even 400) 1/125-200 and 1.8-3.2

Ah nice, more light than I thought there may have been then. I'm worried I'd end up being forced to use iso1600 and f/1.4 to get a decent exposure for the most part at a shutter time I can hold steady. Nice to know that I'd have a bit more flexibility *touch wood*

A longer lens would provide a bit more creative opportunity I reckon.

i think bigger balls would benefit me better, in more ways that one of course.

Don't get nervous when doing it - bands like being photographed, it's free publicity - they will interact with you

Not bad for a first go, it looks like you need more guts though!

Bands love getting cool photos of themselves playing so don't be afraid of getting right in front of them and getting some more intimate shots.
