Hi

My son asked me for a gaming PC for Christmas but I told him that we could build one as a project together this year. I'm brand new to building a PC from scratch so if I can get some specs with links that would be great. He will be using it for playing games like fortnite etc.and usual Internet stuff with a wireless connection. Budget is around 600 if possible. Thanks for your help in advance

APU based system with single large ssd drive, quality power supply with enough juice to add an additional gpu should/when you need it and saving you a decent amount from total budget.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £500.12 (includes shipping: £12.30)

pushing your budget to max with the same spec, but this time a 6 core cpu and a gtx 1050 along with a cheaper case.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £611.55 (includes shipping: £11.70)

going with a 1st gen ryzen setup at the lower end with the 1200, but added a 8gb rx 570 which is better than the 1050, i had this combination and did me quite well, the board isnt ideal as its an A320, you be better off with a B350, but the ones under £100 are not listed on this site anymore it seems, so would have to look elsewhere. however you can use the 1200 to update the bios of whatever 1st gen board you end up with to allow the likes of a 2600 in the future.. its not in stock here, but the 1400 be better to go for over the 1200 and look elsewhere you can find it brand new under £100 too.

6 core intel, all core boost 3.8ghz

Would be faster then ryzen 1200/1400/2400g

Larger 512GB over 480GB- don't forget windows takes 20GB, now reverse 7GB and after drive format use normally lose 10GB

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £604.60 (includes shipping: £11.70)
