Hi guys.

I've decided to take up photography as a hobby, and thought if I am to do it, I'd like fairly decent equipment so I bought a canon 350D with a 18-55mm lens and also a 75-300mm lens. I've spent the last couple of days just reading up on all the theory and settings and today was my first day actually testing. Nothing very exciting I'm afraid, but I'm only using manual settings to "throw myself in at the deep end". Here are the 2 I was happiest with.

I'd welcome any advice you can give. They were shot at F/5 at 1/500 with an ISO of 400 (was a bit overcast)

Thanks

Very good for first photos! Which lens did you use?

thanks! I used the 75-300mm for those. I was going to get the sigma one, but as I had bought the 350D, I got £35 cashback with the Canon.

I have to admit though, that over half weren't very crisp or were under/overexposed. I guess it all comes with practice.

How much did the lens set you back?

£159, minus the £35 you get from the cashback. You don't get it from the shop, you have to fill in a form on their website and post the reciept off. The site says it takes 40 days to credit your bank account.

Nice first pictures :) The first one needs some tweaking in photoshop though to bring out the colours of the feathers. Keep up the good work :)
