I have lets say 7K to spend on a car, well i'm currently saving so it'll be the end of the year.

Now i'm 22 and sensible people say don't buy an old sporty car because it'll be worth nothing when you come to replace it (want to keep it for 3 years or so). Currently I have a nissan micra 93 1.2 that I got for free as a starter (its a babe magnet)...

Personally I don't want to be sensible now and want a sporty coupe like a 2002+ Hyundai Coupe 2.0 or a Toyota Celica but the Celicas cost more for same year comparison.

Was also looking at BMWs maybe a 316 but not sporty looking enough for my liking, well not the models I could afford!

What are people's opinions on the Hyundai Coupe 2002+? I can't find other cars in the same price range that look that good for my taste anyway. Especially if I could find a black 2.0 version.

Be good to hear of some alternatives too?

Cheers.

Mazda MX-5 with about 30K on the clock "03" could be had for that kind of money.

Toyota MR2 1.8 VVTi with about 40k on the clock "02" isn't unrealistic

Both hairdresser cars though

Could also look at Mazda 6's, SAAB 93's

Celica and MX5 are good cars, Hyundai Coupe is not.

MX5 is a very good choice, infact. A proper sports car rather than a fake Korean sports car.

Don't forget your Nissans!

200SX
300ZX
Skyline

You can get an R32 GTR for 7k if you shop around, not sure what the insurance would be like at 22 though :D

Yeah MX5 is a bit on the hairdresser side of things..

If I moved away those, could go for a Golf GTI, but struggling to get 2002, maybe 2000-2001? Bit undecided at the moment..

Playwork - I'd say they'd just so no tbh :D

Celica is as much a fake sports car as the Hyundai Coupe - last decent Celica was from somewhere around '89 :p

The Celica redeems itself though by virtue of the fact it isn't a Hyundai :/

the new Hyundai Coupe are crap, iirc the 2.5L engine produces around 150bhp which seems pretty poor for an engine that size. As for celicas, i see way yo many of them about, mainly the newer ones and to me they look nasty but i'm not up on the performance side of them

edit - parkers says the 2.7 V6 coupe engine is 165bhp, now that is crap!

You'd be surprised dude, obviously don't try a mainstream insurer like Tesco because they'll laugh at you, try places like Adrian Flux, Sky, MCE etc. and you might be able to get a reasonable quote - it won't be cheap though :D
