Hey guys,

My exams are finally over so i went out with my new 350D for a bit. Well I went into to town to get a camera bag and then took some photos on the way home.

So here they are, critique welcome! (except judges don't comment on the yellow ones!)

These first few where taken down at the new development by the river:

Then into Millenium square area:

They had this strange suclupture thing made out of the average electrical waste of one persons lifetime. But it had half fallen apart!!

Then i wandered down into the carpark...

2,4, and 7 particularly shizzle my nizzle, in that they're markedly different to the others but generally they're all very good anyway!

Nice work!

I like them. What kind of post-processing are you doing? Looks a little like Virtual Photographer plugins (although I haven't used it for over a year since going Apple).

wow! Thanks for all the comments guys, i really appreciate it :) I'm really enjoying this 350D, it gives so much more freedom than my IXUS400!

Generally they have all been played with in PainShopPro using the Curves tool which i only discuvered yesterday!! Previously i had to fidle with the Histogram and overlay/burn to get a similar effect but the Curves tool is awsome and allows me to get the high contrast and Saturation I like with a lot of ease :D

A couple of them are made up of two exposures to get contrast in sky and other areas.

It's interesting that people like number 7, as when i was taking it, i thought it would be a good shot, but after processing i wasn't so pleased! I think my favorites are the first and last. Hopefully i'll go back tomorrow and re-shoot the last photo with the "Yellow" competition in mind :)

That carpark is really cool, and i feel that these photos don't actually do it justice so i may try and get some more from there too. It's also pretty quiet as it's been built with the future developments in mind i think, so is not used that much yet.

You had an IXUS400?! So do I. You now have a 350D?! I want one!:D:cool:

Are all the pics taken with the kits lens? A quick check of the EXIF data you've included (good boy for that btw ;)) tells me that all the pics are between 18 and 55mm.

And what is that rotation 90 degrees thing?

cheers guys.

Hey dude, you can still get some good pictures with the IXUS :) Here's a couple i took a few months back which i think are quite good and are similar to the ones above:

Example 1

Example 2

And yep all the photos are taken with the kit lens, i really want to get the new Tamron though. This kit lens lacks sharpness, has a lot of CA and barral distortion, is pretty slow and isn't built very well!! Apart from that it's ok ;)

the 90degree rotation is where i've losslessly rotated them in windows i think?

Cheers,

Greg

Yeah they look pretty good I have to admit.

Lol, so if I did get the 350D you'd recommend saving the money on the kit lens version, getting the camera only and getting a decent lens?
