Well my Canon S3 IS arrived this morning, I've already been out in the garden playing around with it and I have to say moving from the A95 to this was a nice step, I think the D-SLR route I was considering would have been a bit too much of a jump for me at the moment, anyway onto a picture, more to follow later.

Critique and comments more than welcome :D

This was taken in Macro mode and there is still Super Macro mode to play with yet which allows 0cm shooting, that should be fun :D

Lovely photo :)
I find the background a bit busy & distracting though.. Two options, a wider aperture (not sure if you could go any wider) or popping something behind the flowers - white / black card works well.

Really nice though. Just needs a bee hovering over it!

....Or hit Photoshop and add some gaussian blur to the background ;)

I too have a s3-is,and yes the DOF can be dissapointing.

A way round it is to get further back from the subject and use the zoomas this can help blur the background.

But like it has been said, it aint a DSLR but for just over £300 its a well specified camera.

On a side note, lensmateonline have the filter adaptor for sale on their site now, allowing filters and addon lenses to be used

Thanks for the comments so far :)

Yeah I've done a few standing further back and zooming in and it works a treat, I'm very pleased with the camera indeed. Super Macro mode is just AMAZING as well....more pictures to come a little later :D
