So what do you think for some first shots?

Good start mate, keep at it! Welcome to the DSLR club.

I think #1 is the best, it's really striking. I like the sunset reflection in the puddle. Might be a bit too much black in there but there's not a lot you can do about it.

#2 Another stunning sunset but the composition of the street furniture doesn't do a lot for me.

#3 Ominous clouds but there doesn't seem to be any real focal point in this shot. It's a little bit under exposed.

#4 What a pretty lake. :) Again though there's no real subject other than the lake itself. Also it's a shame the sky top right is blown out.

I hope you don't think I'm being too critical, we've all been there when we got our first DSLR. You're doing the right thing by just getting out there and snapping!

Over time you'll pick up the technical side and the artistic side. Then you'll want more kit and then there's no escape from the downward spiral. :p

I give you a month at the most before your first *Which Lens* thread. :D

P.s. Do you have Photoshop/Lightroom/Aperture or The GIMP or anything to process your shots?

no1. is nice but the pool needs to be larger, to get more reflection as there isnt much in thte for ground to focus on.

I really qute like no.2 as an urban sunset. maybe a slight twaek here and there and that could be a really nice photo.

no 3 lacks focla point as said.

no4 could be a good picture if the weather was a bit better and something to draw your eye into the pond.

all in all very impressive as first pics.

keep snapping its the only way to learn
