Well. I'm hoping for some C+C at this point as I have a rough understanding of what you guys are actually talking about now :p . Thursday was a real breakthrough for me. The images aren't marvelous by any stretch of the imagination, but compared to my first attempt at gig photography i'm really happy with them. This is all with a 350D with kit 18-55 lens (something that seems quite limiting as it's hard to keep -F4 without being on top of the act, but hey, i'm poor), shot in RAW and all at ISO 1600:

Its nice to see these, on Monday I'm heading to my house mates gig and said I'd give it a go at photographing. Will be my first attempt, apart from a telephoto I only have the kit lens and my 400d. Apart from ISO which you mention what sort of shutter speed/aperture were you using? I posted a thread asking for some advice and was suggested shooting in Tv and using 1/30ish.

If I get some shots like yours I'll be happy :)

I was shooting (for some reason the exif data isn't showing in firefox hmm) between 1/10 (when dark) and 1/50 (for back lit shots) , f3.5-f5 and just generally messing about with these until something started to look reasonably lit, then snap snap. Generally though, as stated in a few threads in here, f3.5, lens fully open (all the way out), high ISO and shutter between 1/10-1/30.
