Nice setup :) but what is that strap thing around your PSU?

I have just fitted the Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 to my Msi 470GTX and there is no chance of getting another card in the next Pci-e graphics slot, at least on my setup. thats with a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4. This picture shows how little space there is with the Gelid fitted. By the way, with the stock cooler the idle temps were 36c-40c. With the gelid 26c-30c. Playing Fallout NV with stock cooler 79c max. With the Gelid 39c max. Used Msi Afterburner for temp readings. Fitting the Gelid was fairly straight forward following the enclosed instructions. I gamed for about an hour to warm up the card nicely and the stock heatsink\fan came off no problem. Removed all the backplate screws using No 1 Philipps and applying steady pressure. Putting on all the ram\vrm syncs was a bit footery(big fat fingers) but manageable. Used Arctic Ceramique instead of the supplied paste on the Gpu and fitting the heatsink\fan unit was easy again following instructions. Pleased with the resulting temps and also worth noting I've also seen a drop of 3 or 4c on my cpu temps. The fans on this cooler run at 100% all the time and although they are fairly quiet compared to stock fans I'm thinking I will control them and turn them down a bit. Would certainly recommend the Gelid as an alternative to the Zalman if only because it seems to reduce other temps in the case.

The reviews that I read about both the Gelid and the Zalman coolers observed that both use 3 slots - I would think that Sli would be difficult on most if not all motherboards.

Am running a P5Q-E myself so no ? of Sli - but looking to see if it would fit I believe it might be possible but problems:-
2 (rather than the standard cooler 1) slots would probably be unuseable - I cannot see even a very low profile card fitting but....
The fans fitted to the top slot card would be very close to the top of the second gpu unit (not going to help cooling!)
Not sure but I believe that it might either interfere with some of the fixed motherboard components at the bottom of the board or overhang the bottom of the board and cause other issues.

Did think of crossfiring with this board but decided that it was only really feasible with single slot cards or ,at best, 1x2 slot and 1x single slot

Im running mine at a modest 750mhz oc, heat isnt much of a problem tbh, i have a 120mm fan mounted behind the cards, idles of 31-30, load temps in game of 77c, auto fan so still pretty quiet.

Yep, its a feature on Lian Li cases, no screws required to hold the psu in place, aside from the mobo mounting thumbscrews, the only other screws used in this case are for my fan controller, (zalman), a Lian Li controller just clips into place, and the case fans, though i may mount those with rubber bolts.
 
I'm running a couple of GTX 480s with threse on and SLi works perfectly. I've even got a single slot 9800GT in between them as a PhysX card. Motherboard is an Asus Rampage Extreme III.

Which slots are you using ? From photo I've seen I would have thought that between each there were 2 spaces only or is it me mis-interpreting and there are, in fact, 3 spaces between?

Sounds like a quality case.
 
At the moment the voltage is on 1.05, same as when I had stock cooler, I set core clock to 850 and did a run with a couple of benchmarks to test stability.

Obviously have to fine tune it, in particular seeing your memory clock that high, spurs me on to boost it up more than it already is.
 
Thanks for the review. Quick question, slightly off topic, does removing the stock HSF and replacing with Zalman/Gelid coolers for example void all warranty with retailer and manufacturer? Any exceptions to this? Cheers.

(heard EVGA were allowing it some time ago now tho.)
