How on Earth do they get the diff to distribute power 50/50 exactly on that! Slightly more power/traction to either wheel and its going to shoot off sideways into the crowd! Do all these "wheelie" cars run solid back axles?

You run a spool - almost all drag cars do anyway.

Basically, there are no planetary gears in the diff so there is no torque bias.

The ghetto version is to just weld up the planetary gears...Which is what Backdraft has if I recall correctly...

The wheely truck will most certainly run a standard open differential, with fiddle brakes to control direction - this is how it's able to steer whilst stationary and creep left to right.

Did anyone else stand and watch while FireForce 1 turned into a mobile fire ball?

That was one of the scariest 20seconds ever while everyone stood around and waited for the driver to emerge. My other half caught the lot on video.

Other than that....we saw a guy fall off his motorbike on a jump, Russ Swift nudged one of his mini's on a parallel parking stunt, one of the monster trucks got a ford fiesta wedged underneath it and half the funny cars couldn't even make a full quarter of a mile run before they shut down.

Having said all that, we had a fantastic day!

half the funny cars? the whole two of them, but to be fair 8000bhp + cold november track is never going to be a good result, the dragsters are much more versatile with marginal track conditions

I bet you enjoyed being in the barn when that jet car powered up lol.

******* scary as hell!! the diesel smoke etc.

I ******* loved it! :D :D :D

We weren't stood in the barn, I'm not that silly. :D We were up the banking about half way down the track and the car initially hit the wall just in front of us.

Their website says the driver is fine so thats good news.

aparently one of the chav drifters stuffed it up too!
the big boys were there just for show so weren't going for it, altho the pennzoil top fuel did a 290mph run, still not 310+, and frostie did a 180
getting out was the most fun :p

I was watching them for a bit near the end, and they got through tyres so damn quickly.

One of them mucked it up a bit, first he got a cone stuck under the bumper and then he popped a tyre doing a burnout.

Made me want to have a go myself, looked like a great laugh.

I watched the monster trucks for a little bit but they were taking too long. Was funny watching them trying to get the car out from underneath though. :D
