Had one of those moments this morning, totally bored, nothing to do so I thought "road trip" and ended up loading my kit into the car and randomly selecting somewhere at the coast on my sat nav, ended up at flanborough head, really nice place shame about the weather.. the spray was a nightmare and I got drenched in a waterfall again lol...

Some from today, minimal post processing, levels, highlights adjustment layer and a little sharpening.
C&C more than welcome..

I like 1 and 2, and I really like how the sea has turned out in 4, though is the horizon level? I'd have preferred a shorter DOF in 2 to blur the background.

Good stuff! :)

Really like the effect you've got with the waves on the pebbles in 3. This is my favourite from the bunch. The sea is also good in 4.

The dark rock in the bottom corner of 1 draws your eye a bit much, really ... though there's not an awful lot you can do about that.

5 doesn't really do that much for me. Doesn't have quite the same impact as the other shots somehow.

I think the horizon is a tad out in 4, didn't notice it until you mention it!

Number 2 would have been nice to blur out the background but I think it looked a little distracting, and to get the depth of field means reducing shutter speed to like 1/40th so the waterfall looked frozen.

Cheers,

I know the dark rock in 1 is a pain, but it was impossible to get the flow of water from corner to corner and miss it out lol. 5 is the weakest one, but I had to post it because it took my 10 mins of climbing and balancing to get there, would have looked a lot better with some light.

Its shots like these which are making me feel silly for still not owning a tripod. I clear you're using a high aperture value, and a slow shutter speed - but just to ponder, what numbers are we talking for shots like these?

I think it's Flamborough Head, just to let you know like. We go there nearly every year, usually when the weathers a bit better than that. Nice place to chill out cos it never gets that busy.

well, normally I stop down to an aperture greater than F16 for landscape, these were shot at F22, ISO 50 and most of them have a shutter speed of 1-3 seconds, I used a 0.6 ND grad filter ever so slightly on the sky in some of them.

Download an EXIF viewer - the images posted above all have their EXIFs intact. If you're using Firefox, then 'EXIF Viewer (1.36)' is good and though I've never used it, I think iEXIF does a similar job for I.E.

It's always a handy thing to be able to see the exif and learn what settings are being used. I love the first shot, makes me wish there was a waterfall around here so that I could have a go!
