Hello.

Just about to flash my Asus Rampage (X48) bios for the first time. I'm looking at the best procedure to make sure it all goes smoothly.

Is it best to clear the bios before the update, then flash it again after? Or do I load setup defaults. I'm not really sure what would be best.

Can anyone advise me? I know its probably a bit of a simple question, but I like some your views. Cheers.

First set all settings in BIOS on default.
You can flash using FLOP, USB stick or winflash.
You don't have to clear BIOS before flashing, just after that if it wil ask you.

Use EZflash 2 from usb stick , could'nt be simpler. remember your settings, load defaults and save, reboot, run ez flash- when done wait for reboot and re enter bios renter settings save and reboot and your done.:)

Didn't know that

Flashed twice on mine already, should i redo it the proper way then
If youve done it twice and its been ok thats good. but its not a method i would advocate, theres always the chance that it could go wrong. Better of flashing with the asus ezflash bios utility from a usb stick:)

I will do that from now on, pheewww..... learn something new everyday :D

Do i need to put all the setting back to standard fisrt?

i updated my p5q deluxe last week. Downloaded new bios from asus site, burnt to disc and flashed it via ez flash in the bios. Went super smooth and only took a few mins.

as all bios updates should be, why most company's thought it a good idea it was a good idea to work on windows update when all they need to do was make updating in dos simpler i.e a bootable iso image or usb stick program
