Hi So need some advice. I rarely use Fleabay, however i thought i'd take advantage of the £1 final value fee.

So I sold a CPU - The buyer received the CPU, and within an hour of doing so, concluded it was faulty after testing it in 2 Machines/ram/psu etc etc. I Knew the CPU to be fully working, and it was packaged extremely well.

Now he claims the CPU works in his flat mates pc but not his... and due to this it's FAULTY, He's asked for a partial refund - I've refused. I then offered to accept a return providing the Serial numbers match. The guy then stated he would take £20 or he would have to " contact Ebay " and threated with Negative feedback ( couldn't care less as i won't sell on there again ). Now I've stood my ground and asked him to open a return he's yet to do so, my only worry is A) he doesn't return the correct item, or B) opens a return 6 months down the line.

He lives not so far from me - I offered to come collect it in person/ Troubleshoot. It's clear he is at it - Upon checking his feedback it was all positive ( i'm guessing buyers can't leave negative according to reddit ) so it's probably masking the other few attempts at this.

It sounds petty but i hate vermin who abuse/defaud people of money. I feel out of pocket due to RMSD postage should the return go through - If ( hopefully ) when i get the cpu back, is there anyway to claim this back of him if found not to be faulty?

excuse the grammar, I'm dyslexic.

He probably just needs to update his bios or something as a lot of people who buy stuff on there are not always clued up.

First tell him you've security marked the CPU, even if you haven't. Then tell him to waste his time and contact eBay who will just tell him to return the item for a full refund anyway. Then let him know that you won't be selling on eBay again, as your experience with him has put you off - therefore any negative feedback will be a further waste of his time.

Thanks man - He's " Decided to keep the CPU as it's a waste of his time to return it .... " I Guess that's me and EBAY finished! lol

What is this common sense you speak of?

eBay certainly wouldn't see it that way.
Reminds me of when I sold a personalised mug on eBay and the buyer sent a photo. She then opened a return request stating that I hadn’t removed all the clutter from the background in her photo so she wanted a refund (clutter being crap in her house!). eBay sided with the buyer and gave her a full refund and told her to keep the item. Thanks eBay!

you get more money on Fleabay because there is this risk
I did it once got an item and it had an issue
Contact seller informed him of the problem and requested 15% off or i am sending it back
he went no so i sent it back

i had an issue with selling my old asus dual gtx 1070 that i got as an upgrade due to my 980 having died within 6 months of purchase. asus had the card listed as nzxt kraken compatible but it wasn't as the vrm is on the left side of the card. asus refused the return of the card as the card still worked and i sold it on ebay for £300.

the buyer purchased it, received it, and 24 hours later he had opened a ticket with ebay. stated the gpu has been modded due to the vrm being on the left side and that it was not the factory gpu in the picture/description. i responded with the gpu is like this from the factory and sent a link to prove this and refused the refund.

ebay later refunded him and told him to keep the gpu. i lost £300 + £30 fee. took me a further 3 weeks for ebay to realise they made a big mistake and they refunded me my money owed. the buyer than decided to return the gpu without warning even though i got my money back. contacted seller to find profile no longer exists. ebay caught him red handed. must have been doing this quite a bit, got caught and deleted his profile. so i was £300 up and still had my gpu. ebay let me keep his money as the profile had been deleted and nothing else could be done. very lucky outcome :)
