Focus RS -Would you? And which colour

some do though and you have to respect everybodys different

We can post fail jpegs all we want, but if he wants a newer car and prefers it, thats his choice.

Oh i agree.

If i was spending £28k on a car, it'd be one that I wanted. But i'd like to do so knowing that i had looked at everything else and made an informed decision.

My god!!! That just looks awesome! Dont know how it'll go round corners though!

couple of hundreads £s worth of suspension mods would sort that. These cars are so popular in the states there are tons of companies all fighting with each other to offer the mods at cheap prices. Plus theres no scene tax like you get with porsches whereby the partscost 3 times as much just because they're going on a porsche.

Both the Evo and Subaru will get around 25mpg combined i should think. Insurance will be insane on both and you'll also be paying out 400 quid a year on tax for them too (iirc). Not to mention services, clutches, tyres, brakes.

Bottom line - none of these cars are cheap to run. None are even "reasonable" to run. All are downright expensive.

Yes new EVO X FQ-330 gets 25mpg combined, STI Scoob similar.

Insurance will be no more insane than a Ford RS!
Correct tax would be £405 per year, what is the RS?

So does a Ford RS not need tyres, brakes or clutches then? Last time I checked a 4WD car is more gentle on its tyres then something trying to put 300BHP through front wheels. Brakes don't both cars use Brembo setups, brakes surely cost just as much on both? Clutches not sure about Ford RS but EVO's and Scoobs have very strong clutches that can take lots of abuse.

Close to 30k on a Ford or close to 30k on an EVO X, sorry EVO X or new Scoob everytime its in a different league.

I would possibly say the Focus RS would hand the Mustangs ass to it on a plate on British B-Roads unless the Mustang has extensive suspension improvement. You can't compare the two, one is a Yank tank and the other is a European Hot Hatch, I can assure you not many people have shortlists with the same two cars on. As awesome as I think the Mustang is.

Sorry to get in the way of your crusade, but i never compared to them to the RS for running costs. I was merely stating a fact of these types of cars.

Oh and high powered, 4WD, road-going-rally-cars easy on their tyres? lol ok.

Oh and no, the new Focus RS does not have Brembo's, or even 4 pot brakes.

Oh and Evo's of old used to love eating clutches for breakfast. Not sure if that's changed - can't see it changing massively? (Gaijin, that's your cue ;))

The Focus RS will hold it's value VERY well IMO, certainly better than an Evo or Impreza. Look at the prices of the Mk1 RS, Escort and Sierra Cosworth etc for reference.

I doubt it's THAT much better than a tuned ST, certainly when you can get a nearly new ST for around half the cost, but that's irrelevant. The RS is a much more exclusive car (though I must say I've seen a good few) and if it gives YOU something more than the ST - that's worth paying for, and only YOU can decide if it's worth it. I know if I was given the option and going to spend the £25k on a new ST+tuning or RS, I'd always have the nagging that I could have had an RS :o You can always tune the RS too remember ;)
