Folding@Home News 12th November - 19th November 2010

right got my gtx 460 folding away so hopefully i should start climbing the tables at bit unfortunately though gotta take a week off before i start, although i'am very impressed with the rate it churns through wu far faster than my main ati card could ever hope to achieve.

Stanford are utter gits. My 460 has had nothing but 6811s and the current one only has a PPD of just over 7K. My 260 was giving me that much!

Something is very wrong there mate.

Yeah same, seems stable-ish. Failed one work unit but finished four others. Temps are suprisingly low for air but I think the 768MB cards do run cooler. Currently 61c and has been no higher than 62c.

Did you have the same issue I did? Where you can't fine tune the voltage? Might be the way it works but it was odd, it went like 1000, 1012, 1025, 1037, 1050. If you put anything else in and pressed apply it just went back to what it was before.

About 15° lower under water, but I think the jumps are standard issue for Geforce cards, that way for clocks as well I think.

It went back up to 10K. Must have been a blip or a difficult few frames [or my server got busy]. Still not happy with the 6811s or the 6701s for SMP!

We should revolt against Stanford! :p

Anyone else getting this on GPU2?

It's happening on both my 260s

Be glad you've not had a P6041 on an SMP client sirius, drops my PPD down to around 3k from 8k and makes my rig fall over completely without increasing the vcore by almost 0.31v

EDIT: Dekez my 8800GT is still working on fahcore_11 units just this second started a new one. P5787 with 787 Credit.

Will give you PPD numbers shortly if needed. The current GPU units are terrribly slow on my aging card

In the middle of moving house so output is not at optimum levels. Only had one i7 rig and one Q6600 running for the last couple of weeks. Moved another i7 rig over to the new flat yesterday and got it up and running, should get the last one over in a few days but may be going off to work next week and, since I'm living on my own now, all rigs will be 'not on' while I'm away. I will continue to have erratic output for a while as I move stuff around and get everything where I want it to be.

Both bigadv clients running pesky P2684 units which give about 8k ppd less than other bigadv units :(
Had a weird error on 2 of my GPU clients this morning

Googled it and it is an as yet unknown error. I had to delete my work folder and queue.dat file and restart the clients. All fine now though :)

Thanks as always to dekez for the news and a warm Foldy type welcome to the new team members :)

FOLD ON TEAM 10 :D

Took me so long to type my post you posted before me. I had it this morning. You need to delete your work folders and queue.dat files and restart.

Aparently its a FUBAR by Stanford, thats the old Tinker core. So your Stanford has sent an old Tinker work unit to your machine thats why its trying to download the old core. Stans fix does the trick as it clears out the dodgy WU. Keep an eye on it though it might happen again between now and them getting up this arvo.

Happening to loads of people. Stop your clients delete the work folder and the queue.dat file restart the clients and you should be OK

Wish I'd come here earlier. The fix works:D Thanks Stan. Now the room will be a little warmer.
Thanks too Dekez for the news; struggling to keep my place in the top 20.
