Fond early gaming memories

Out of all the consoles ect i've had the Amiga 500 was the best, I remember going to school when swapping games with 15 or so disks per game :D

I also remember being addicted to a game on the C64 called Midnight Resistance, damm I played that game for weeks.

Looking back the funniest memory is playing TMNT on the spectrum, I was prob about 10 at the time and got so angry at dying all the time I started to hit the keys with my hands, then up popped "cheat mode enabled" I never did find the correct cheat code but mashing the keys always worked :D

man I loved that midnight resistence game too, then there was bomberjack, yie ar kung fu, spy vs spy etc good days and c64 *** speccy and the 464 sucked lol ( just kidding )

Chucky Egg, Repton, Wallaby, Breakout and above all Elite are all games that I fondly remember playing on my BBC Model B.

you mean BombJack. what an awesome game. my dad brought it back from town one day, i got so hooked on that. played BombJackII quite a bit too.

I remember Midnight Resistance, was brilliant in 2 player mode!
Used to have an Amiga 600 which my Dad brought back after a trip offshore, came with 3 big boxes of floppies. Choice games being, Cannon Fodder, Test Drive 1 and Space Hulk. :D

My first console was the NES, had the Mario's and the typical games that everyone had. My most frustrating NES title was A Boy and His Blob... Always got stuck on a bit quite late on, stupid Jelly Beans. Wish I still had it as I know how to get past the bit now. :(

I remember it being such a huge deal to be able to play the Atari 2600 on the colour telly every now and again :D. Otherwise it was the b&w portable :(

My gaming started with an Acorn Electron at around age 7, with many hours spent on games such as Repton, Snapper (Pacman clone), and Leapfrog (Frogger clone). Even my Mum and Dad played on the Acorn, it was very socialable and instilled in me a love for games. I've had many systems since then and from the Amiga 500 onwards saved up for them all myself. Most of my fondest memories are playing multiplayer with my brother and friends, ahhh good times :)

My first memories are playing on my cousin's MB Vectrex... it was monochrome, but it came with coloured pieces of plastic that you'd clip on the in-built screen to make it less boring :D

In '84 though my big sister got a Spectrum 48K for her birthday... she liked it but nowhere near as much as I did. I spent half my life playing on that thing and typing code from the back of magazines. From the Horizons tape, through to Horace and the Spiders, Hungry Horace, JSW, Booty, Daley Thompson, California Games, Combat School, Cybernoid 2, Uridium and Firelord.

I also remember going to Makro in Brum with my Dad who was self-employed and used to get supplies from there... they had a NES on display with Mario. I was impressed by Mario, but was blown away when a few years later we went to Makro in Bristol and they had a Master System with Space Harrier.

I had to make do with the Speccy for many years but after working a number of jobs as a teenager I managed to afford a 2nd hand Atari STe. My sister was at university in Portsmouth and her boyfriend had an ST too. He used to lend me his boxes of floppies with the Pompey Pirates disks. So many great games... Kick Off, Sensi Soccer, Microprose Soccer, Midwinter, Stnut Car Racer, Chaos Engine, Blood Money, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Xenon 2, Rick Dangerous, etc... I loved my STe.

For some reason, though, I swapped the ST for a Megadrive with a mate from college :( It was fun but I regretted it and still do. Even though I've got the games on an emulator I miss not having the original STe.

Sold the Megadrive and bought a SNES with Street Fighter II in a collector's edition tin, Super Mario All Stars and Mario Kart. Ended up giving the SNES away to my cousins a few years ago.

When I started at university, I had a 386SX PC with 8MB RAM and an 80MB HDD, running Win 3.1! I played Doom, Sim City, Epic Pinball, Wolfenstein and Championship Manager on it. Was then a PC addict ignoring the consoles until my son got a GBA, and now a DS and a Wii.

C64 Audio
I remember the C64 blowing me away mostly for its superior looking games but mainly with its midi sound capabilities which really made it stand out. Ocean Loading theme/ Rambo, Last Ninja, damn so many C64 had inspiring musicians...
Ah yes, the music on the C64 was a joy to behold. I can't beleive how sad I was, as I actually recorded a few of my favourites onto cassette :o The guitar Solo from Monty Mole and also the load music from Paradroid were two of my all time favourites - the worst music ever must have been from Booty!

ah.....memorys.

Those were both total classics. Arcadians was definetly an advance over normal space invaders because they'd swoop right at you! :D

My sister got a vic20 for her o level computers and I played asteroids, wacky waiters and Amok on it. I could reprogram the keys to what I wanted and hack the high score table, was only 8 too though it was pretty simple tbh :D

To this day Ive not seen Amok repeated elsewhere, the little ant computer people were pretty smart. It was like an overhead camera on stick men FPS I tell you :p

Some of the people who did C64 music have gone on to do proper soundtracks and play in bands etc so its not that silly, some genuine talent was there

Being in the top 100 in the Atari world Asteroids contest on the 2600 (nice little badge :) )

Also finishing Alien Highway on the Speccy, phoning up the publishers (well, we were only 13 or so!) and being told we were the second caller. Ah, life was simple back then... :)

my startup in the gaming/computer world was an atari 800xl with space cart (forget the actual name), after that we upgraded to the amstrad cpc464 route and my parents had the cpc6128 with 3" disks :D god it was fun waiting for games to load!!!!
outrun was a classic on any platform :)
the amiga 500+ was my next step and i added the Philips Colour monitor along with a GVPII 40Mb hard drive with 2Mb of fast ram!!!! this made things a lot more interesting, things were a lot more hands on back then. this was also the first time i was introduced to bulletin boards LOL.
side by side with the amiga i also had to have the Sega Megadrive (the original as i dont count the mk2 as a true megadrive), sonic the hedgehog, ducktales, mickey mouse castle......, amongst some of my all time favourites.
the megadrive and amiga made way for a sony playstation which altho it was fun it never held the same impact as the megadrive as far as games consoles go

then of course the pc era came and once u get into that theres no going back LOL.

ive had the original XBox and now own an XBOX 360 which i love to play thanx to the HD quality, i may decide to get a PS3 also but as far as fond memories go i have to give that to the Amiga 500+ :D

ahh the good old days :)

im an oldie i started my journey on a binatone with pong lol

had every console / computer going

but my happiest memories have to go to my C64 with summer games with all my m8's around getting drunk when we were about 14 :D hilarious

then came the Amiga which i believe was the pinnacle of a gaming machine

Megadrive and Snes were amazing

why do all the latest games have to be in 3D i miss my old school platformers and shooters

one of the most amazing memories though was seeing Daytona for the first time :D
