Foo Fighters - Tour 2/3 July 2011

I also saw the Foos at the IoW festival last month, what an awesome awesome show they put on. Was tempted to find tickets for this as well.

You won't be disappointed.

Awesome day overall :)

Thought the first band were pretty average - but I was pleasantly surprised at Death Cab For Cutie! Biffy were awesome :D

Foos were unbelievable :D So much energy :D I couldn't believe it when Alice Cooper came on at the end! And the bit where they had a video back stage before their encore was pretty good :D They've done it before - but it's usually pretty funny :p

I'm absolutely burnt to a crisp! The sun never let out - and I wasn't smart enough to bring sun lotion :p And I wore my sunglasses pretty much all day - so I have pretty bad "Panda Eyes" :p

And had an epic three hour drive back when we got stuck on the M1 (Three lanes were drawn down to one ) :p

Yeah they were brilliant, not the greatest venue if you aren't lucky enough to be in th "golden circle"

See I disagree here as we were up on the bank the whole time, we had a good view of the stage and the screens worked well. Sound was very good for the whole event which makes a change.

I suppose it depends where about on the bank you managed to get. We were down the side and watched The gig over the beer tents. This made it feel like we were watching people who were watching the gig. And the angle was to severe to get any benefit from the screens. The sound was ok, but due to us being outside the last rig, we were getting a bit of phasing and a lot of echo.

I'd have given my right arm to get one of those wristbands that let you in the middle.

Anyway, lesson learned, if I go again 1) get there bloody early and 2) if you don't get in the circle, get on the second barrier by the sound stage.

Brilliant performance by the Foo's though.

Yeah I think I disagree also - We got there pretty early and when we got into the bowl there was hardly anything in the golden circle - so we had the chance to go there - but we decided to chill out on the outside as it looked like once you were in, you were in :p

Sound was pretty damn good and the lighting was immense :D

You could come and go as you pleased.
Yeah you could get a good space then leave and come back to the back of the crowd :p

It was nice to just lie down and chill out near the back - I think I would have collapsed if I had to stand the whole time - Especially without sun lotion :p

Fantastic gig, personally I think its a good venue, we just chilled near the back on the bank, you could see everything and the atmosphere was just as good as up front (ok maybe not quite as electric as if you were in the golden circle) but then you didn't have to either stay put for hours to keep your place or wade through 70k people get back and loose your place anyway.

I feel sorry for the guys stuck in the queue to get on the M1, it was pretty horrible when I drove past it at midnight.

First time we went there (Green Day 2005) we just followed signs for the bowl, the traffic was vile, this time we just drove through past the center, left at the train station and into the retail park to park then 10 mins walk, there was no traffic in or out, we live 1/2 hour away in rushden it took 50 mins inc getting out of bowl, walking to car and getting home - we did bolt as soon as the fireworks went up though ;)

I can't bring myself to read my own thread now that i'm not attending :(

Gutted you weren't able to make it. For me it was probably one of the best gig's I've been too. The energy from the acts on stage and the atmosphere of the croud was awesome!

It was one hell of a setlist though! good mix of new and old.
