The new seasons fixtures are released tomorrow according to Sky Sports

Which fixture are you most keen to see on the calendar?

Just a gentle reminder that it's illegal to post the fixture list here.

I'll be looking out for the Sunderland/Liverpool/Chelsea fixtures for Man Utd. I have a feeling we'll get Sunderland at Old Trafford fairly soon at the beginning of the new season. :)

Illegal? Eh?

Yep. The Premier League for the past two seasons have sent e-mails to a large number of websites warning them to remove fixture lists or face legal action.

Only sites that have paid a nominal fee are allowed to post them since the copyright is owned by the PL.

Is it cool to discuss the fixutres then as surely commenting on a Utd - Chelsea game in March is still against the same as posting it all

Just to further on the silly ruling against posting the fixture list on websites.

Sky have said on the website this.

The countdown is on to one of the most eagerly-anticipated days in the football calendar - the publication of the fixtures for the forthcoming domestic season.

The word Publication means,

Publication Meaning and Definition

 1. (n.) An act done in public.
 2. (n.) That which is published or made known; especially, any book, pamphlet, etc., offered for sale or to public notice; as, a daily or monthly publication.
 3. (n.) The act of publishing or making known; notification to the people at large, either by words, writing, or printing; proclamation; divulgation; promulgation; as, the publication of the law at Mount Sinai; the publication of the gospel; the publication of statutes or edicts.
 4. (n.) The act of offering a book, pamphlet, engraving, etc., to the public by sale or by gratuitous distribution.

So if Sky are making this public then we, as the public are allowed to talk about it in any way what so ever.

Anyway, Man Utd v Derby County - First game of the new season. Thats my prediction anyway.:D

I seem to remember that the copyrighting of football fixtures was introduced many years ago so that the Football League could get revenue from the Pools Companies. Any published list is required to have a copyright statement alongside it, as it does in any newspaper listing.

As far as I can recall, there's no problem in mentioning individual matches, or groups of matches. The football companies object if the season's fixtures for a club are published without permission, or the entire fixtures for a day. It's a very woolly subject. Whether listing the 10 premiership fixtures for the following weekend constitutes a breach of copyright is doubtful.

Liverpool will have Aston Villa away as their first game followed by West Ham at Home.

The voice of football has spoken :)

/edit....The voice of football also predicts Everton will play Wigan at home.
